General Terms
abaxial organ surface that's under/outer (ventral)
adaxial organ survace that's upper/inner (dorsal)
arrest meristem makes some lateral structure and then quits
blade distal leaf
col coleoptile
dom possible dominant mutant
ectopic in the wrong place, e.g. "ectopic ligule"
het mut new mutant that looks heterochronic, can be "fast", "slow", developmentally slow
ibid likely this mutant per-existed in all or sector of male parent resulting in multiple appearance
int internode, the stem (culm) between leaves
lethal used alone only when seedling died before they could be examined at 3 leaf stage
l leaf, l2 = leaf 2
lig ligule
nec programmed cell death
penetrance suspected penetrance or atypical expressivity problems
poor germ 10 or fewer seedlings.  poor germ= segregating no germination
seg (x) segregating x number of plants.  Used to denote a family with a recessive mutant
unstable mutant phenotype shows revertant patches, mutable, usually indicated Mu activity
Specific Terms
ad adherant, fusion of leaves preventing unfurling
ageotropic used liberally for all seedling phenotypes that don't grow perfecting in regard to gravity/light
alb albescent.  white going green developmentally, so seedling are green on lower, white upper
aur auricleless or reduced auricle
bladekiller narrow leaf that gets narrower going up. 
bleached green to yellow/white over time
br brachytic, leaves pointed and angled upward with short internodes, a runt
crossband repeating transverse regions of color/less/necrosis = zebra
cg corngrass, grassy multiple shoots
col coleoptile. projections over veins of = horny, not a tube= split, split from inception=unfused
cr crinkly leaf, disorganized cell patterns in leaf
dg dark green, indicative of less cell expansion
dw dwarf, dark green broad leafed, short seedling, suspect GA
eat early adult transition, first leaf more like 2nd, etc, used with terms "fast, slow"
ej extended juvinility.  Second leaf more like first, etc.
fan fan- shaped coleoptile
fast developmentally fast, shorted plastochron - too many segments or leaves).
fs fine strip, many small yellow or white stripes of clonal type
gl glossy leaf, possible changes in surface leaf waxes
grey tone of green probably indication something abnormal with waxes or turgor
gs green stripe, green around lateral veins
hair - leaf very narrow leaves = thread leaf = tendril
kn knotted, protuberance of excess organ, usually symmetrical over vein
knox proximalization along p-d leaf axis, ligular displacement, organ overgrown as knots
les lesion mimic
lethal (gr) = green lethal = hcf.  Unexpected death as a seedling
lxm lax midrib, midrib extended and broad, blades droop
lg no or reduced midrib.  Hard to see in baby corn
oil yellow shiny yellow with a touch of green
opposite leaves initiate opposite to one another in the same "whorl"
nl narrow leaf; a very large and valuable mutant category
phyllo altered phyllotaxy
pg pale green, also see yellow green
ragged leaf torn or shredded as a result of necrosis
shoot (split) more than one seedling within a col, or shoot splits into two or more shoots
short int short internode, seedlings appear as tufts of grass
sm small
str striate
spider spider plant, usually narrow leaf, sheaths pulled out from culm and phylotaxis twisted
tillers premature secondary shoots
tiny very small but in proportion
thin seedling distinctly with a thinner culm
twisted  
tub one or more fused leaves fused at margin, like an onion leaf
twin two individuals per kernel.  can be variable, ie, split shoots on one root, etc
rld rolled, leaf turns up and sometimes epidermal sruvaces switch
runt small developmentally disturbed, infertile
slow developmentally slow, too few segments/leaves
spindly thin culm = thin stem
stripes peripheral stripes on leaves, like iojap
tie-dyed blotched repetitive nonclonal pattern, less regular than crossbanded
vir virescent, yellow (new tissue) going green (older tissue)
wh white, often modified with words like "ivory" if yellow tint detected
wilted water stress or perhaps early death
wh tip white tip, white tips or caps on leaves
X-mas tree leaves project out from culm at near 90 degree angle, contrast to brachytic
yel yellow = luteus
yg yellow green= pale green = light green
