*Unigene 1-01-01 and 1-01-02 microarrays were separately printed in different formats, but both contain the same Unigenes taken from libraries 603, 687, 707, and 945. Unigene-1-02-02 microarrays contain additional Unigenes taken from libraries 486, 605, 606, and 614. These Unigenes are not present in Unigenes 1-01-01 and 1-01-02.

Master Unigene-01 (MGD-MUG-01) Format: The Consolidated Master Unigene microarray is an attempt to speed up the printing process. We have transferred all the PCR products from 96 well plates to 384 well plates. The Master Unigene microarray contains unique ESTs from EST libraries 605, 606, 614, 486, 603, 707, 945, 687, 618, 683, 829, 496, 487, 660, 3524, 1091 and Maize microarray controls. A total of 20,736 ESTs is spotted on each slide, with each EST represented by a single spot. We named this consolidated microarray MGD-MUG-01 (Maize Gene Discovery-Master UniGene-01). The Master microarray contains two parts: a larger part with 32 sub-arrays and a smaller part with 16 sub-arrays. There is a large clear space between these two parts to distinguish them from each other. The larger part contains 32 sub-arrays. Each sub-array is printed with the following dimensions: 22 (column) X 22 (rows), with a total of 484 spots/sub-array. The spots are spaced 190 uM apart. The smaller part contains 16 sub-arrays. Each sub-array is printed with the following dimensions: 22 (column) X 16 (rows), with a total of 352 spots/sub-array. These spots are also spaced 190 uM apart. These microarrays are spotted onto Superamine-coated glass slides (Telechem) using Telechem SMP-4 pins.
